I have a post today about light, but before that let me state that there are no aspects of science explained by the math and the coordinate system of spacetime that cannot be explained otherwise without curved space, i.e. hyperbolic Minkowski spacetime. That is a challenge I have made before and I still maintain it is true. I am talking about observables and the scientific explanation of observations. I go further and say that many observations that are not yet explained by science that is consistent with the consensus theories can be explained if the theories are considered tentative and if we derive solutions from the bottom up.
Light is one such aspect of observed nature that lends itself to bottom up step by step speculation that makes sense to me. Please contradict or refute my views as conveyed in the following post.
What is Light in QWC?. Light is photon energy that is emitted in packets by any energetic wave particle as the energy of the environment hosting the energetic wave particle increases.
As I sometimes do as I develop QWC from the bottom up and in a step by step fashion, I like to make statements like the definition of Light and then stipulate the definition of the words used in the statement.
Light is also called electromagnetic radiation and almost everyone accepts that there are two fields associated with it, the electric field and the magnetic field. Be that as it may, those fields do not cause photon energy to be emitted from an electron; they are physical characteristics of the photon and they are aspects of the mathematical description of the motion of a photon. The field represents the potential energy of the photon once it is emitted and is in motion.
The fields of the photon themselves do not have energy separate from the photon and they do not exist until the photon is emitted. I’m not saying that electric and magnetic fields don’t exist without photons, but I am saying that in regard to the photon they go with it and if the photon is absorbed the field potential is absorbed as well. From that perspective, the fields associated with a photon in motion represent the potential energy of the photon.
A photon is energy in motion at the speed of light and the amount of energy in a photon corresponds with the potential energy of the fields that accompany the photon in motion. The photon is a spherically expanding wave front. Each wave front is an in-phase expanding spherical wave of energy. Parallel wave fronts are curved plane waves, segments of the spherical wave, emitted from a common source that sequentially pass a point in space. All points on the in-phase spherical wave have the same amount of energy. The energy of any point in the in-phase wave declines as the radius of the wave increases. The frequency of the wave fronts corresponds with the energy level of the source. So as each point on the in-phase expanding spherical wave along a line of sight loses energy as it traverses space, the frequency of the curved plane waves passing a point in that line of sight determines the apparent photon energy. A line of sight observed from a point in space and a photon energy source is called a photon beam, a ray of light, or even a light spear depending on the context.
Energy in regard to the photon is a specific quantity of wave energy emitted from an election or other energetic particle under various circumstances. That energy has potential to affect energy environments that it encounters at a distance.
“Emitted” refers to an event where photon energy leaves an energy environment at the speed of light. The stimulus for the emission of photon energy from the particle environment is energy density equalization, meaning that when energy builds up in an environment, the energy level of the surrounding environment determines the limit of energy that can be contained in any given particle in that environment.
Packets of energy differentiate photon energy from a constant flow of energy. Energy doesn’t continuously flow from an energy environment, it flows in discrete amounts. The amount of energy in a packet can vary across a wide range, i.e. the electromagnetic spectrum. It is an aspect of quantization characteristic of matter in that energy can be added or emitted by matter only in quantum increments. A photon carries energy in quantum increments and the amount of energy in a photon is always a whole number of quanta.
“Energetic” simply means having energy.
“Wave” denotes energy in motion.
A particle is a spherical standing wave or organized set of standing waves that have synchronized and quantized inflowing and out flowing wave energy.
An energy environment and the energy of the environment are phrases used to specify a finite amount of wave energy in a finite space. The space can be defined as any three dimensional location specified, and by specifying that space you are defining an energy environment because all space contains wave energy. More specifically, a particle is an energy environment just like an object composed of particles is an energy environment, and the solar system or a galaxy or an arena all qualify as energy environments.
Light energy is synchronized energy and shares the distinction of being “synchronized” like the out flowing energy associated with maintaining the presence of matter (see the stipulative definition of a particle above and the description of out flowing energy in post #1726. Light energy is emitted spherically from matter to balance the energy density of the energy environment and the out flowing wave component of the standing waves that establish the presence of matter are also emitted spherically, i.e. equally in all directions). There is a distinction between the frequency of light which always falls in the electromagnetic spectrum with its transverse fields, and the out flowing spherical wave energy that is not electromagnetic energy but that is continually emitted from matter as the presence of matter is maintained as standing waves. That distinction establishes two types of energy emitted by matter, electromagnetic wave energy and out flowing matter-maintenance wave energy.
This post can serve as a benchmark for the internal consistency of any and all references to light in QWC. As you can see, the stipulative definitions that apply to the definition of light can also serves as consistency benchmarks for other aspects of QWC.
