Imagine some nothing/void in which a single transient event/photon was witnessed. Now that seems like a single observation but if we break it up into these periods of time:

Right you could think of it that way, thats just how this whole thing ties into quantum physics. It is the bases for quantum physics with relativeness included.

No observer is needed, I just stated it because its based on relative frames of reference and its easier to see how it works when you consider all points of view.
