The inverse square law of forces as found in gravity and electricity are laws of conic section motions of gravitational charge (or mass) and electric charge. Any departure from such motions, whether in position or velocity, whatever the causes, is a perturbed motion. The descriptions of such perturbed motions always give approximate solutions. The question to ask is why does nature seeks such approximated motion. Why nature does it the hard way? The answer is for the sake of interaction! Nature interacts in order to find another similar nature. A man seeks a woman to form a family. A positive universe seeks a negative universe in order to form baby universes. The light negatively charged electrons seek the heavier positively charged proton to form the first hydrogen atom. The next question to ask is why gross asymmetry of this interaction exists. Why can an electron-positron atom exist naturally? The answer is for the sake of conservation. The validity of this gross asymmetry makes it possible to define a reduced mass ([math]\mu[/math] for the electron when interacting with the massive proton.
[math]\mu=\frac{mM}{m+M}[/math]
This says that the electron has to give up something of its mass in order for it to bond with the dominant proton forming a quantum of mass. Surprisingly, there is no such charge reduction for electric charge, ignoring the mysterious asymmetry between electric charge (exists) and magnetic charge (does not exist), although mass reduction again appeared in the electroweak mechanism between the zero mass of the photon and the massive [math] W\pm [/math] and [math] Z^0[/math] particles. Furthermore, reduction principle appeared in QCD between the zero mass gluons and the heavy quarks.
